Re: [pyrnet] Re:Q

Yes, the tendency is to take in larger areas to patrol and guard. When
you say guarding the family, do you mean you have the dog to actually
guard your people, or do you have stock the dog is watching too? A dog
always does a better job of watching humans when he/she is right there
with them. It's too easy for someone to know about a dog and dispatch it
prior to, than it is to deal with it up close and personal in the home
with it's humans. If that is actually why you have the dog, and not for
stock.

Living in Texas, our five do know the joys of air-conditioning in the
summer! :-)

Caring owners of stock dogs either keep them in a modified trim, as you
described. Some are kind enough to provide moist dirt areas that the
Pyrs. can dig in to get down in the cool dirt, and under shade etc. And
then there are all those types that don't do anything, and don't care a
flip ( here in Texas ). We live in an area of working Pyrs. and when I
took a couple of ours into the Vet., the staff and Vet. were actually
playing in the dogs coats, oohing, and commented that they never get to
see them clean and fluffy, usually just a matted mess! So largely, a lot
of people just don't care! Just what goes on around here.
