I guess I'm lucky.  My house that I bought last year is a newer one, 
energy efficient, solar screens, ceiling fans, etc.  In last year's heat 
my bill ran around $100 or so and this year I haven't had one over 
$100 yet.  During the day I run it around 78-80 and when I'm home 
the ceiling fans are on, and at night crank it down.
