Re: [pyrnet] Cruciate Ligament Disease

I've heard of it referred to this way but it's not a disease. Some
vets do reference it this way whether it's correct or not. There's a
number of things that can contribute to cruciate. Improper exercise
and conditioning is one. It does seem to run in family lines but no
one has come to a conclusion that says genetics. There's some
hypothesis that if the dog is undiagnosed hypothyroid that they are
prone to cruciate and some vets now immediately check for thyroid
conditions. And if there has been patellar luxation that the dog can
be more prone to tear a cruciate. I kinda think this comes back
down to improper exercise and conditioning after a patellar luxation
repair.

Best to see an orthopedic vet and have it checked. Back to thyroid
cause I know it cause I'm hypothyroid I'm a stickler for checking
thyroids and making sure the meds are correct once diagnosed
cause know from people that hypo causes a weakening of the
muscles so it does make people more prone to tears so it's
important to have the meds right and check it.
