Re: [pyrnet] Barf diet?
Thanks for the explanation. I'll assume that the diet is *somewhat*
controversial, yes?
Before Siri, I was very interested in the Newfoundland breed. I
recall that in a breed book I had purchased, the top breeder liked to
make her own dog food, using cottage cheese and ground beef, rice ,
plus additions of cooked vegetables. I don't recall raw chicken as
part of the equation (personally-ICK!). I have read elsewhere that
the practice of giving raw bones has also been questioned by some
vets. I think I read that the jaws and teeth/digestion(?) of dogs
have changed quite a bit and raw bones were no longer recommended.
I'm no expert and this is from reading here and there. I know that I
tend to err on the side of caution if there is any question. I do,
however, giver Siri the mammoth bones from Petsmart so that he can
chew on them. It may be that Pyrs have been "messed" with less than
other breeds and being more "natural" might be able to handle the
bones. Dunno.
