Barb,

For a less expensive alternative to Photoshop, you can try Paint Shop 
Pro.  It only costs $100 and you can download it at:

The download may be a free 30-day trial - not sure, but most of the stuff 
at Tucows is.

Also, I think I have an unwrapped copy of Photoshop 5 LE (limited edition) 
that came with one of my scanners.  I never opened it because I use the 
full edition of 6.01.  I'm not sure what the limitations are, but if you 
want, I'll look for it and send it to you if you give me your address.
