It could very well be pressure changes.  I have asthma and my chest feels
like steel cables are crushing it when the weather changes. One of my cats
sustained a serious tail injury years ago and when there is a big weather
change he becomes terrified of his tail and runs frantically through the
house trying to escape it. And we've all heard of old people who have big
toes that hurt when bad weather is coming!
