We had only one hot spot and I caught it early - my breeder said to use alcohol (pour it right on) and then once it's dry (evaporates real quick) pour on the Gold Bond. It was gone within two days. I try to avoid oral medications if there are other avenues. Of course I will add that if the hot spot is rather large I would go easy with the alcohol as for it does sting.
