It is my understanding that it does depend on the particular dogs, but your
best chance for peace is one of each sex and your least likely combination
to live in peace would be two males, especially if not neutered.  I'm sure
you will get replies from people with far more experience.

Hi All- I am sure this has been discussed many times before I got on the
list but I would like to know-When a household already has a GP  and wants
to get a second one, is it better to get one of the opposite sex or does it
depend on the particular dog....I had 2 sisters, but they were always
together so no problems...have also heard that 2 adult females(or 2 adult
males) will NOT get along....hear so much conflicting advice.....what is
the "bottom line?"    Just in case that special girl?- boy? comes along...
