I guess what it boils down to at this time is just how brave we are!
We HAD originally "crated" her in a 12 X 12 room, using 2 baby gates across the doorway, leaving the door open & the stero on for compnay. In just 3 times (totalling about 5 hours), she managed to knock a 27" color tv off the entertainment stand (climbing it to look out the window) and totally destroy a very nice love seat (which belonged to my daughter). Since THAT didn't ssem to work out well, we have been trying what the "experts" suggest, a crate ( large enough for a Dane). We are also using the airesol doggie anxiety herbal remedy, which has had OTHER side effects (read peeing on the floor...a TOTALLY NEW TREND). While she's always well behaved in the house when we're home, she has managed to put a tooth or two through my living room drapes in order to look out the window when I was in the yard. To be honest, I want what's the best for my girl, but we REALLY can't afford new living room furniture at the moment (especially since this is only a little over a year old!).
There DOES seem to be a bit of improvement today! I spritzed my old, dirty tee-shirt I had worn yesterday with a light mist of my perfume then sacraficed it to the great "Crate Gods", knowing it would be in tatters when I returned home today. Well, the tee shirt is indeed nothing more than a collection of threads at te moment...HOWEVER, Angel doesn't appear to have wet herself & the muzzle is no worse than it was yesterday! Does this indicate progress??????????

One day we left her loose and just kept our other two crated....That was the ticket. She was happy. She had a house to look after and "patrol". She needed the freedom to roam and take care of things. All the trials we had, and she is still definatley the best, and most caring dog we ever had we ever. I wish I had known about this site when I had Sugar. I have a crate now & have had to crate her a few times, even trying to acclimate her when I'm home. Once I'm gone & she's in the crate, she has torn her nose and mouth up and wet herself, to the point of another vet visit (ONLY $112.00 this week)...I got a Butler's DAP (pheromone) plug in and the only "benefit" seems to be a new trait, peeing in the house! I REALLY don't want to have to "drug" her with Clomiecalm or whatever it is, but if this keeps up, will have no choice. I've left an old tee shirt (I wore yesterday) in the crate this morning and am hoping that might help somewhat. I know it's forfit now (will be in ribbons when I get home)
