Re: [pyrnet] 1st heat in Pyrs

Well, Rajah came in around 10 months but Kayla came in at about 18 months while Eli` was somewhere between 1 1/2 to two years.  Gwen and Peaches were with others their first year or so of life and while Peach has had a least one here in two years, I've not noticed Gwen have any in the last year.  Cotton was with her co-owner and came in around a year I believe, we've only had her a few weeks.

And they all seem to have times of being early or late.

My first Cocker was over a year before she first came in and I was told this was her bloodlines.  Most of her daughters have been spayed but the ones who haven't, I have yet to see them in at three years.  One came in at about two.

I think it depends on a lot of things.  Also, Rajah seems to be more fertile or something during her cold weather seasons.

>>Most of mine have come into season after they are a year old, but we did have one
that came in at six months.  It seems to be hereditary...If the mother came in
late, so will the daughters and usually litter mates will come in at about the
same time.  There is an "old wive's tale" that says that the later they come in
the taller they will get.  I am not sure that  I believe that, but my pup that
came in season at 6 months turned out to be the shortest Pyr we have had and the
one who came in at 17 months was one of the tallest.  On the other hand, many
spayed and neutered Pyrs are taller than their un-neutered litter mates...go
figure.<<
