RE: [pyrnet] companion dog question
Thanks, Jan.
I think I implied it, but perhaps I should state it explicitly: Sophie and
any future dogs to join the family are and forever will be full-time OUTSIDE
dogs. My wife has a problem with "doggy odor" with Sophie outside...if I
were to suggest that she live inside, I would probably be divorced. We have
about four acres of yard that's fenced, and another four acres where the
animals (40 ducks, 10 geese, ~60 chickens, and 2 sheep) stay. Sophie for
now only has occasional supervised access, since as you may remember from my
posts over recent months, she sometimes gets a little too frisky with the
fowl if left alone with them. So I'm looking for a breed that won't see a
chicken that has escaped from the barnyard to the backyard as an immediate
lunch invitation.

I dog sit for a client who has a Pyr and a Corgi mix. They are the greatest
of friends. The Corgi is older and was there first, in case that should have
a bearing on their affability.
They play with each other, but I have never seen them be aggressive. There
are also cats in this household as well.
