[pyrnet] Hot spot

I have a question about hotspots my "charge" has been dealing with the past
few months. This is his first summer in Oklahoma's heat. He has developed
two hotspots over his hip area and is quite sensitive.

I have been sitting with him for several weeks and have been brushing him
and giving him Benadryl per his owner's instructions before she left. But
the skin seems so sad looking I don't like to think of him suffering.

I received some good suggestions about sunscreen to keep the bare skin from
worsening, but upon reflection I realized he doesn't really spend that much
time outside since the temps have reached the high 90s and 100's.

I haven't found any fleas during the brushing, which he loves but if there
is anything I can do to make him more comfortable and allow the skin to heal
I would surely appreciate suggestions.

For a few days I was concerned about his lack of interest in his food. Then
I discovered he had been climbing up on the counter where I feed the cats
and helping himself to the canned cat food. Of course, the cat hates him
now.

Thanks,

Jan
