This sounds mean, but I think I'd try hanging out outside while my Husband
opened the door with the dog on a loose lead....and when he goes to squeeze
out ....give him a "NO" that shows him how serious you are.  He'll be
startled by the fact that he didn't know you were out there...which will
work in your favor.  I'm also not opposed to using an empty soda can with a
few coins in it to drive home a point when necessary. You could try shaking
the can once while saying "NO" from a hiding place outside the door. This is
for his own safety, so startling him may save his life one day. Good luck!
