Did the vet test for pancreatitis, where the symptoms are also vomitting and diarrhea.

I'd be concerned about items like pig ears.  I think there could be a food safety issue.  I've always avoided things like pig ears, ready-baked bones, etc.  I prefer to give things like a Dentabone and Jumbone - just not everyday, because I find it will constipate the dog.  As a treat a couple of times a week, it seems fine.
