Bailey is a marker. I had a hard time breaking him of that when I first brought him home. He marked everything, and I mean everything. He is also very territorial and a bit dog aggressive. (It just depends on how the other dog looks at him.) I just assumed that it was all because he was nuetered so late. Also, I know that there are probably little Bailey's running around out in the world. If you know what I mean. He's a great dog, but it would have been far easier if I would have had him since puppyhood. He's six years old now. I got him last year. So we've only been together for a year, but oh I do love him.

The squat to pee for a male dog may be normal for a pyr?? Or I have had two dogs who never learned otherwise. Jascha was 4 years old before he was neutered and he always squatted. I assumed that because he was raised with two girl dogs, he never realized there was another way, but Charlie has seen dogs lift their legs and he never has. Now if he could just take the first step afterwards and not plunk his foot into the wettest spot, all would be well.
I have heard stories of little dogs trying to mark higher on a fence than they really can to appear bigger, but it seems my pyrs are big enough not to care.

I didn't get your e-mail before I sent mine. It's good to know that someone else is doing well on Nutro large breed puppy. Although, Amy's dog seems to be doing well on Eukanuba. In my oppinion the earlier you nueter the better for the dog. Couper was just nuetered on Friday. If he had been my dog early on, I would have nuetered him before his "jewels" dropped into sight. Still he hasn't hiked his leg yet and still squats to pee. I guess I caught him early enough. However, I have read that neutering early can stunt growth. I'm not sure if it is true. I neutered my Golden at 4 months and he is a very large boy.
