I have been very lucky~then again, I have not had the experiance the You All have had ~My knowledge of this affliction is limited to 4 males and 1 female Great Pyrenees plus numerous Rescues~~
So far, ( knock on wood), I have not come across this ~I do know that from the "get go" with My own dogs, I was advised by the breeder to feed  a good quality adult food ONLY~~ never puppy food ~~
