She is microchipped, but I don't take too much stock in that for quick ID purposes. I do agree that microchips aren't good for quick ID by neighbors, but our animal shelter checks for chips on animals lost or picked up.
We had Ombre chipped primarily because large dogs sometimes disappear from our rural area (espcially Yellow & Black Labs). Unless they're chipped they can be sold for commercial purposes(collars & tags can be easily removed). I'm considering a sign for our fence that says,
"Dog Inside"
"Has microchip"
"Do Not Open Gate"
"Beware of Dog" sounds like she's mean, and an invitation for a lawsuit if someone seriously offends her. "Keep Out" doesn't sound very cordial, but "Do Not Open Gate" clearly says just what I mean. Nancy
