I wrote this list before of a similar experience with my year-and-a-half old Pyr who attacked a child (also at the head) when he felt his food was threatened (a rawhide rather than a bone). This happened twice in my house, but specialists did say this is typical pack animal behavior, not just resource guarding or aggression. An animal of lesser-status (child) appeared to challenge him, though it was a hardly a challenge, and the behavior is then instinctual for the breed. Since then, after harsh punishment, our older Pyr has not challenged anyone else.
Play with fire.
