Hi Lisa,
What happens if he eats more than one cup of food at a time? Any
vomiting or regurgitation of food or water? You say you have monitored
this. Is it that he won't eat more than a cup at a time? If he does vomit
when eating larger amounts, I would have the vet take a chest x-ray to
check for megaesophagus. The other possibility is that he was free fed
and only eats small portions at one time. It also may just be that this
dog had very poor care for a long period and it's going to take a while for
him to gain and start feeling better. At age 7 he is considered a senior
also. They are much less active as they get older.
