Re: [pyrnet] toys for boredom

Our girl also loves empty plastic soda bottles, mostly for the crunching noise they make when she bites down. Her other favorite is empty "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" spray bottles, which she chews into unrecognizable shapes. But nothing compares to her favorite hobby, reverse gardening: she digs up all the flowers so their roots are facing up. Yep, that's our girl.

Bacchus has a $9 plastic kid's pool from ToysRUs. With 2-3 inches of cold water in it (it has to be cold!), he entertains himself by tearing around the yard, leaping into the pool, then tearing around some more. Throw in a tennis ball and he's in heaven. Not that he plays with the ball. It just send him into hyper-mode when someone splashes it into the pool. Oh, and he likes to "dig" at the water, drenching his belly in the process. We're in Southern California, so it's a great way for him to cool down, I'm sure.

In the winter when the little pool is cracked and torn from its hard summer use, he'll lie in it, draping his head over the side.

Gypsy loves plastic milk or soda bottles, or those big
plastic containers that some cat litters come in. If
I put them out in the recycle bin and don't fasten it
securely, she's suddenly running around the yard with
a huge plastic jug hanging out of her mouth! She also
likes frisbees, but they don't live a very long
life... She's perfectly contect to throw things to
herself, and then catch/chase them. She's not much
for a rousing game of "fetch" unless she's the one
that's calling the shots. She also like to play
soccer with anything that will slide when she slams
into it.

As far as store bought toys, she's got a couple of
fuzzy things that she carries around the house but
nothing that really entices her to "play". She
prefers the house cats for that type of fun.
