Re: [pyrnet] Grieving Pyr (Sorry: this a LONG email)

Hi Judith:

Thanks for writing back.
I looked into the Recue Remedy and will pick up some today

Our Pyr is still in the house, which is rare this time of day.
He went outside a few hours ago and howled and bayed and riled up a few neighboring dogs.
He slightly does this when my husband goes running - but never to the degree he did earlier

I have been talking to our Pyr - he discovered our immobile Newf first.
I am stunned how completely he is deviating from his routine in such a short period of time.
I try to act normal around him so as not to feed into his...mood.

I'm sure he will adjust and be OK - I've just not seen this in any of our
other Pyrs.

Thanks once again,
Christine

PS: The Newf forum has been great - lot of x-ray images and interpretations.

Give your Pyr Rescue Remedy and you take some also.

I too had a very sensitive, astute Pyr. When our horse died, she did not eat for 7 days, I
would find her hiding behind chairs, etc, places she had never slept before. In the mornings
she would go out and lay on top of the horses grave. The same when the mixed breed dog
died that raised her. Every morning she would go out and lay on his grave. When my father
who lived with us died, it took her months before she quit going to his bedroom to wake him
up every morning. That had been her routine since she was a puppy.

My breeder always advised me to also talk to the Pyrs, tell them what had happened or was
going to happen. They are smarter than we think.
