ÂÂÂ [pyrnet] Opinion and Advice about Dog Day care for vacationââ

Hi Trudy,

That actually sounds like a lot of fun. We will probably be gone a week in July and maybe 10 days in August. So I am looking for places that can accommodate Kodiak that long.

I have traveled a lot in my life so at this stage of the game I am not ashamed to say that Kodiak is my number one priority and this dictates many of my plans an decisions.

We truly have not been separated longer than a day and he is 2 years and 4 months. He is my little clown - actually the summer heat has turned him into a couch potato and he is on the verge of becoming my quite sizeable, chubby little clown...

Anyway, I will check out the meetgroup and I am open to other options, suggestions and insight.

Thank you all :)

Christine/Kodiak

Don't know if you are asking about vacation care for your dog or going to dog camp with your dog - I work at Camp Winnarubbon (www.campw.com) in Lake Tahoe - we have 3 sessions over the summer.  I have gone with both of my pyrs but only when they were under a year.  My guys are way too much set on the 'guardian' idea to be able to mingle with dogs they don't know.  My border collies and pugs go with me and it is always a problem feeling comfortable finding someone to take care of my pyrs at home!

Has anyone taken a dog to Camp Bow-Wow or a place like that?

Our neighbour took their Dane and there she is barred because she nipped another dog

Kodiak doesn't bite or growl but he does like to play - he does not know he is as large as he actually is.

We have always had two dogs to keep each other company and a neighbor or family member to watch our dogs when we travel.

We have not traveled since we go Kodiak and now we need to.

I can't get out of it otherwise I would and Kodiak will not do very well being left alone

Please let me know. I have never had to take one of my dogs to a place like that and I don't know where to begin or what to look for

Any insight or would help a lot even if it is anecdotal

Thanks
