Yes they did field a fair selection of their own
armour and plenty of it.

Early British tanks were under-armed and cursed with
unreliable engines. Later designs attempted to do
something about these flaws.

Unless they're shooting from the flanks it's not an
easy target. A side shot also gives the opportunity to
bugger up the road wheels as well as make the tank
shed a track. IIRC, a track can be replaced in 30
minutes or so with a little help. Damaging the road
wheels makes the job a lot tougher to pull off.

Does your AT bloke realise that by blowing off a track
the tank is now a well armed/armoured pillbox looking
for trouble?

For infantry it's not a good thing to be messing with
enemy armour. The best weapon against a tank is of
course another tank. Pilots think otherwise but
they're a bunch of blouses anyway. ;-)

If your players are still dead set (pun intended) to
take on enemy armour it's not going to be easy. For
tank commanders that don't button up (shut the
hatches) there's always the grenade down the hatch
trick. Difficult to get close to the tank but a good
ambush could do the trick.

A movie I saw a while back had people bury themselves
in thin trenches and when the tanks rolled over the
top they slapped a sticky bomb on the under-side where
the armour is thin.

Other places to put a satchel charge is the rear deck
where the engine compartment generally is and the ammo
supply. Not a good idea to stick around after doing so
as for some inexplicable reason the tank crew get all
annoyed at people trying to kill them.

Failing that, do the Saving Private Ryan thing and try
and get a sticky bomb attached to the suspension.
Won't kill the tank as such but does make sure it
stays in one place for a while.

One thing for WM's to remember with armour. It's not
generally on its own. Combined arms divisions were
common place in many armies. In fact, it was difficult
to get the British to *stop* breaking up their armour
along the infantry divisions. Rommel is quoted in the
main rule book wondering why the Pom's kept doing
that. So while your brave PC's are running forward to
do their all for King and Country, they're going to be
shot at by more than just the tank.

Carrying all that explosive close to their bodies can
really make the eyes water as the WM makes his too hit
rolls.

Cheers,
Mr. B
