When I first read Darksuns 'Character Tree' idea I thought it to be ground breaking. I really liked the idea of having more then one playable character. As I continued to experiment with it, I found it difficult to 'story in' a reason for back up characters to not only be familiar with the 'main' characters, but to explain why they would desire to pursue the same goals. The closest I came was a simple 'adventuring guild' concept =(.

I really like your idea about ships crew! This would not only enable the characters to have multiple characters that could be drastically different, but it would enables them to 'know' each other and to have similar goals (Not to mention a great way to explain what the unused characters are doing in between adventures). Have you decided how many characters they can have as backups at the start of play or will you have something more fluid?

This week I am going to switch over and start a Ravenloft campaign with my group. I am going to do a homemade little Domain that revolves a French Foreign Legion. One of the cool things about the D20 system and WW is that I am able to incorporate WW rules like the Grunt and Officer class, weapon rules, and feats, without compromising either setting in the slightest.
