You guys must not have run into a lot of Blasters, then. :) Their Energy
Blast averages 19-20 points of damage on their worst days (with no delta
point use), based on the fact that an average roll for 5d6 BNW-style is
9-10. Their Blast Punch averages about 24-25, and once they get Superblast
(which almost all of them do), you can add +5 to +20 to either of those
averages (scary...). You're right about most damage rolls: typical results
are usually more like 8-15, plus about 3 or 4 with the use of delta points.
But there are several powers that do a whole lot more on a regular basis,
and, frankly, they are some of the most common ones out there (Blasters are
a dime a dozen in most campaigns and in the BNW official history, for that
matter).
BTW, this brings up another question. Does anyone else think that
Superblast is just a little overkill? Blasters already do a lot more damage
than almost everyone else, as this whole conversation has brought up. In my
experience, the ones with Superblast are usually willing to build up for a
couple of rounds, so they average close to 35 points of damage. I know that
this is a Blaster's main talent (although they also get armor), but
still....
