And here's where all those years of being a Crack monkey Johnny Cochran
rules laywer wannabe CCG rules jockey comes back:

Hmm. . . Lets go worst case scenario - a rider runs to his horse, rolling a
3 on his die. He uses 6" of movement to get to the horse and another 2" to
mount. Can he now move the horse:
1" for the remainder of his initial movement or
2" for the remainder of the horse's movement (10" - 8" of what the rider used)
8" for what is left after the rider mounts the horse (10" - 2" for the
mount loss)

And seeing as how the rider ran, can the horse also run? (I would say not,
but. . . )

Well - it states "Note that unlike other types of damage, since a STR roll
is involved (and Fate chips can be spent on Trait check), you could spend
Fate Chips on the damage roll!"

Now - I know what is being said here. But I could see some munchkin with a
d6 Str and a d8 melee weapon trying to emphasize the part about "you could
spend Fate Chips on the damage roll"
