Ranger Railroad (Was RE: [DL] The Deep South)

-----Original Message-----
With regards to a Ranger with a friend in a railroad, it might just be
useful for him or her to have an inside contact in Bayou Vermillion or Black
River so he or she can get the lowdown on the latest nefarious plot. I
won't use that contact to get railroad tickets or advertise my ranger
connection too openly when near the contact, but that person might be useful
in finding things to "shoot or recruit."

Having a contact in Black River or Bayou Vermillion has another advantage
for the Marshall. The contact could be:

A) A double agent, feeding the Ranger just enough correct info to keep them
convinced, info on rivals and other enemies that need
restraining/elimination (The Rail Baron could even frame the innocent when
necessary....).

B) Be a known traitor who the Rail Baron is using for the reasons in A.

In either case, once the contact has completed his usefulness, the Rail
Baron can have him murdered messily and obviously, leaving a letter that
thanks the Ranger for all of his prior aid, which the Baron admits was
gained without the Ranger's knowledge, and warns the Ranger of two things:
1) What happened to the traitor can happen to him and 2) That the letter
written to his superiors, showing how the framed innocents were dispatched
so efficiently, can be sent any time he is uncooperative.

After the letter bursts into eldritch flames, destroying all evidence of the
letter (lashing out at photographic plates, if necessary), you can utter
that always popular GM question:

"What do you do now?"

I hope this helps.
