Wonderful. I repeat, however, that the sum amount of time for me is about the
same. A touch longer, perhaps, but not enough to be a bother -- certainly not
enough that I've noticed. Now, you can argue that my ability to deal with the
new massive damage system is impossible, but I'm afraid I'd have to differ on
that one. ;)

Hmmm, it seems that you are arguing that.
Ah, so now I'm a liar, yes? I'm just repeating my experience. I have run using
both systems, using ordinary polyhedral dice. I hate to ruin your mathematical
proof with actual experience, but there it lies. In general, over the course
of the combat, it makes little difference to me, time and trouble-wise, which
system is used, especially when we're not talking people at ground zero.
Perhaps it's because the system more closely resembles the ordinary system for
damage, which I already have down pat, and can deal with very quickly.
Perhaps it also helps that since I don't enjoy combat a whole lot, I've done
everything I can do to speed it up in the first place, such as having
appropriate groups of dice at the ready before combat begins. Again, if I
wanted to concentrate on combat, I'd be running Hell on Earth using an adapted
version of _Feng Shui_, or I'd be playing a wargame. Now, if the games I ran
were nothing but explosions, I could see how the trivial difference in time
could add up, but as it is, so what?
