Re: [PyrNet-L] Re: Longevity of Pyrs

Thirty one years ago when we got our first Pyrs, we were told the life
span was 10 to 12 years and we found 11 to be a very average age of
death. We have had some Pyrs live longer. 14 was the age of our
oldest, I believe. Unfortunately, some of our older Pyrs got to the
point where the spirit was willing, but the body wasn't able. Then we
had to have the vet come and put them to sleep. It hurts emotionally
whether the dog is young or old, but we haven't had a Pyr just go to
sleep naturally in their old age. We just had to have Ch. Marwell's
Private Stock (Judy) put to sleep and she was almost 12. Just my 2
cents worth.
