Re: [PyrNet-L] Pyr puppy prices

In a message dated 98-03-24 09:13:10 EST, you write:

<< I think what the previous poster meant was that we didn't want to see Pyrs
left and right in the newspaper for $200, meaning they were being bred by so
called "backyard breeders". However here in Oklahoma that's already happened.
You can find a "purebred" Pyr for $75-$150 in the paper, yet "purebred"
 Goldens are much higher. >>

This made me think of a question:

What about the Pyr owner that used their pyrs for LGD's. They decide they
need more working pyrs for their "ranch" and breed. Keep the ones they want
and sell the rest as pets to presumably good homes or to other "ranchers" as
LGD's.

These dogs are more than likely good examples of the breed since they ARE
working. Now if the owners decide to breed them and sell the puppies for a
low prices as they are not "breeders" is that really so bad? I agree that
75-150 dollars is very low considering that regardless of their reasons they
need to get them vet care, but being as how in this scenario, they have lots
of other animals, presumably they have a "deal" with the vet too.

But anyway, my question is would a person owning working pyrs that bred them
be considered a BYB?
