Hi Holly, Welcome to the list.

I really do think that Pyr pups need a fenced area outside - it doesn't
have to be big, Pyrs don't need a lot of running space, but it does need
to be a place that is their own. That is why our puppy contract states
that buyers must have a fenced yard. Of course that puppy knows someone
is in the house and wants to get out of the crate. I'm all for crate
training pups for housebreaking or to keep them safe while the owner is
away for short periods of time, but not all the time! How often does
the pup get out? I would suggest a pen outside with lots of chew toys.

Do not let them use a shock collar on a young pup. I've seen pups made
shy by "trainers" who use harsh treatment. Pyrs are very sensitive. A
training class where the owner learns how to train their own puppy is so
much better.

We feed older or spayed "portly pyrs" senior food.

Keep us posted on the pup.
