Later in your letter you stated the bite was "severe".
Sorry, but the dog needs put down. *Especially given the fact he's 140 lbs. No 
responsible rescue in the world is going to pull a 140 lb dog who bit someone, 
severe or not.
There's too many nice Pyrs getting put down who's only "crime" is uncaring 
irresponsible owners.
