Re: [PyrNet-L] Flock Guardian Pyr Problem

Mitzie, are you upset that the dog bit or that he weighs 140 lbs. You
say it like it is some magical number. I can assure you that small dogs
can do a tremendous amount of damage, so I think in this case we really
need to determine just what this dog is accused of doing. I understand
the communication to infer that the dog has bit once? This makes it a
biter?

I would have to know more before saying I would take it in. That doesn't
mean that I wouldn't however. I would prefer to see it in a working home
with a male in charge, since that seems to be what his life experience
seems to be. That doesn't mean he wouldn't accept a female. Hopefully
one that knew how to respect animals. She was an adult that presumably
was capable of understanding a request not to touch the dog...and she did
anyway. If you asked her not to put her hand in your fireplace and she
did, and got burned, would you remove the fireplace from your home?
Remember, fire is a dangerous item to have in your home, people die from
burns!

Ah, children, yes. Always afforded ultimate protection, but seldom
taught respect in this day and age. Oblivious to trespassing, because no
parent teaches that it is wrong. Being bit by dogs, drowning in pools,
never held responsible, even the parents are never held responsible to
teach. Parents, the first teachers, in the end, the ultimate teachers,
if they attempt to do their jobs. A good parent assists the educator,
supports them, if they have any hopes for a child that not only learns
by rote, but has the capacity for actual thought....free thought! But
no, everyone else is supposed to be doing something for their kids. So
instead we kill the dogs for what most often is the sins of the
un-watched, un-taught children. I have two children, I love them, and
have always watched out for them, so it is not that I would willingly see
them harmed. But they have always from day one, been taught
responsibility, towards all life! The saying that humans are not the
only species on this planet, we just act like it, applies here!

Unless someone knows more, I am just not willing to condemn a working dog
to death, without knowing what really happened. Too many dogs are dying
for that reason.
