Pits are a 'status symbol' in many an urban neighborhood, and a macho one at
that. Often times uneducated dysfunctional people own them, breed them, and
'train' them with violence and aggression. The abuse breeds abuse. Often times
it's the human children who are bitten and must bear the cross of their
parents ignorance and shortcomings. A possible scenario may be a dog
redirecting the abuse it receives from the adult(s) in a household towards a
child emulating his/her parents. The dog is sure to win. It's unfortunate, but
true that these things DO happen. Educating people in the urban environs about
dog ownership would most likely change these statistics drastically. Just my
opinion.......... Ted
