[PyrNet-L] collars & junk

I remember when Dallas was a baby, the instructor wanted me to have a 9mo
old pup on the 20ft long lead and walk. I was to walk and he was to heel. I
was NOT to speak to him and if he went the other way I was to drag him. Now
this may work for others, but when the lead gets tangled around legs and dew
claws, there is NO way I am going to drag a screaming puppy. I walked out of
the class and never went back. As I was leaving the class the instructor was
berating an owner for stopping to untangle a golden puppy that had got the
lead tangled around the rear paw and leg. The dog was in such pain and the
owner was in tears. We have the same vet and the dog sustained a serious
injury to its paw/nail. She never went back either. We both followed through
with training at another facility and the dogs graduated. It may work for
some dogs and owners, but not for me and never would I use a pinch collar on
a little one. Just our experience.
