"A long-time breeder told us 30 years ago that the bitches do not grow
after they come into season. So far, that has been true with all our
dogs i.e. if one sister comes in season at 8 months and another at 11
months the latter is usually taller and bigger. Most of our bitches
come in season around 13 months but we had one at 6 months (probably our
shortest) and one at 16 months (one of our tallest)."

I have heard this told many times also, but I don't think it is always
true. Some bitches come in season very early and they continue to grow.
My youngest female Esibelle surprised me by having her first season at 8
month - at least 4 month earlier than my other bitches - and she has
certainly grown a lot since them. Now at 2 years she is 73 cm and the
tallest of my present bitches, and at the time of that season, she was more
like her mother who is 68cm, so allthough I did not measure her at the
time, I know for sure that she has grown some 4 - 5 cm. since then. And put
on both more body and weight.
