Re: [PyrNet-L] Health: Care: Snakes

I've donned my flame suit, but if you were to shoot the poisonous snakes
(leave the harmless ones), it ends the problem. Learn the beneficial
snakes, for they consume mice and other rodents which CAN carry rabies.

The Humane Society Director here in our area recently had to put a dog and a
cat (same household) down because apparently the cat caught rabies from a
mouse. The cat was a declawed, neutered one who NEVER left the house. The
vet is certain of which animal was sick first--he diagnosed both.

This is extremely rare; however, it is very hot and humid here. Rabies
shots are very expensive (this is an economically challenged section of the
country) and many people do not vaccinate at all. We have had confirmed
rabies in this county for the past 4 years, including a rabid fox who
attacked an elderly lady on her porch (she lives less than two miles from
me).

I realize that many of you live in urban areas and either don't like, don't
own or want to own a weapon. I have figured out that the less potentially
harmful (to my animals) method of snake removal is to shoot it.
