Have been wondering.  Is it possible that the gene for Double dewclaws could
be dominant and the one for single recessive?  If you look at a pattern
similar to that for the recessive liver colour gene in Dalmatians  (l) as
opposed to the dominant black (B) it would look something like this I think:

If 'D' is double dewclaws (dominant) and 's' is single dewclaws (recessive):

DD x DD = DD
DD x Ds = DD or Ds
Ds x Ds = DD, Ds or ss
ss x DD  = Ds
ss x Ds = Ds or ss

Dogs with DD and Ds exhibit double dewclaws, while ss exhibit single.  This
doesn't take other variables like triples or none into account though.

This is purely speculative - I really have no idea.  Any thoughts on this?
