Re: [PyrNet-L] Breeding

A few things that are always good to think about before breeding
are - and other people please add your suggestions.

Has your female had her hips x-rayed and rated. Does your dog
have the correct conformation. Does your dog have the correct
temperament. Will you be able to keep all the pups if you do
have the litter and they don't sell. Do you have a chunk of cash set
aside to cover
emergency vet care if it is needed. Is your female at least two
years old. Do you know the genetic faults that lurk in your dog's
background. Have you talked to your breeder to find out what
lines cross well with your bloodlines and which bloodlines to
avoid. Do you have people seriously interested in puppies
from your female. Are you able to take back pups/dogs from
this breeding if the buyer can not keep them. Have you found
other pyr owners and breeders in your area and seriously had
them evaluate your dog's conformation and temperament.
Have you read books about the breed. Why do you want to
breed?
