[PyrNet-L] New heartworm drug

The FDA on Monday gave approval to a new heartworm drug, called
selamectin, that could have the potential to be the biggest advancement
in health products since the topical flea treatments.

The new drug, which is made by Pfizer and should be available around
September, is applied topically, like Advantage, and is supposed to work
for heartworm, adult fleas and flea eggs, ear mites, sarcoptic mange,
roundworm and hookworm.

Cost for a Pyr-sized dog is estimated at about $20 per month, though
that hasn't been finalized yet. It will be called Revolution, which, if
it lives up to its billing, it certainly will be.
