Subject: Lost Great Pyrenees

Hi. My name is Robert Law and I am writing to report that Meg - our six year
old female Pyrenees - was lost in the woods adjacent to my family's farm
last Saturday (7/17) in Southwestern Vermont. We adopted Meg as a rescue
from Flo Laicher in September 1995 and she has been part of our family
along with my wife Yvette Bordeaux, our 2 daughters Alex (3) and Cate (2),
Sam - our 7 year old Border Collie and 3 Vermont Barn cats - Murphy, Tim and
Bruce ( who Meg often protects from Sam) in Buckingham Twp in Pennsylvania.
We were spending a week in Vermont at my parent's farm located in
Arlington, Bennington Co., Vermont and Salem, Washington Co., New York.

Yvette, Meg, Sally (my parent's yellow lab) and Sam were walking in the
woods ( a regular ritual) on a mountain at my parent's farm when Meg turned
around and ran back up the ridge - we assume to get a drink of water from a
watering hole they had passed earlier. Unfortunately, at the summit of this
ridge there are several old logging roads that radiate in all directions.
We believe she chose one of the ones that lead into 15,000 acres of
undisturbed land. Yvette and I hiked into this area several times on
Saturday and Sunday as well driving the roads that surround area. In
addition, some family friends have been through the area in ATV vehicles but
as of tonight no one has seen her or any signs.

We have contacted the Animal Control Officers in the general vicinity in
both Vermont and New York. We have contacted Vet's in Salem and Arlington
and the animal shelter in Arlington Vermont. In addition, we have posted
signs with Meg's picture and description in numerous public places in the
local area. Our concern is that according to Flo, Meg was a bit of a
traveler and that she may travel clear of the area where we have notified
the authorities. Therefore, we thought it prudent to contact you in the
event she is found outside of this area.

Meg is about 110 lbs with a brown-gray badger mask and dark gray ears. She
also has a large gray spot with a brown fringe on her back at her shoulder
blades. She has a slightly lame left rear paw. She is spayed. She is
wearing a red nylon collar with a quick release. She also had a stainless
steel chain choke collar on at the time. Unfortunately, she had broken her
nylon collar a few days before and I had thought that I had changed all her
ID tags to the collar she was wearing when she was lost but I had not.
Based on what is still on her broken collar, she should have a 1998 Rabies
Vaccination Tag from the Gwynned Valley Animal Hospital, Gwynned Valley, PA
and dog licenses from 1996 to 1998 from Bucks County, PA.

Needless, to say we love and miss Meg very much. She is part of this family
and well-liked by our friends and neighbors despite her regular barking
fits.
