Hi Alison, welcome to the list! You will get lots of good advice here, so
don't be shy asking those questions. And make sure you tell us lots about
your new puppy too! What is her name?

Most others have got in with the good advice before me, but I will second a
few things that they have said: Get yourself booked in to a puppy kindy
class as soon as you can. The more early socialisation and training you do
with your pup the better. They can also provide you with lots of 'on the
spot' help and advice. Your breeder, if you can talk to them, should be
able to provide you with lots of good advice on grooming etc too. How about
joining your regional Pyr club?

A really good book to get a hold of is 'The Perfect Puppy' by Gwen Bailey.
To my mind it should be standard issue with all new pups. There is a handy
new Pyr book out too which you may want to get a hold of too. It is by Joan
Hustace Walker and titled "Great Pyrenees: Everything about Purchase, Care,
Nutrition, Behaviour and Training". I got my copy sent to me from
http://www.ourdogbleu.com/

I am sure you are going to have lots of fun (and much frustration! LOL!)
with your new pup. These Pyrs and their 'quirks' can be a real challenge
sometimes, but I would never be without my big white fluffies! Can't imagine
life without them! Best wishes, and once again, welcome :-).
