You didn't say what kind of dryer you were using. If it's a regular
"human" style dryer, the temp. might have been too hot.  Paddington was
dried at a groomer's once with too much heat (he was ready for pick-up and
bone dry in 2 hours!) and he was very uncomfortable for some time after.
You might try one of those deflector attachments so that there's not such
a strong stream of air blowing at him.
