Re: [PyrNet-L] Hello -Reply

Ann, your great story reminded me that we actually got our first Great
Pyrenees in 1969 because our youngest daughter was absolutely terrified
of
dogs. Of course I wanted a small lap dog, and the way we ended up with
a Pyr is a much longer story. That first dog and our kids were
wonderful together and the fear was overcome (there was a time when our
daughter was still afraid of non-white dogs)...of course that led to the
2nd Pyr, and
3rd..........and so on..

As the director of a pre-school, I often take our dogs and puppies to
school. It is amazing to me that most children who are afraid of dogs
in
general are not afraid of Pyrs...they seem to think of them as big white
teddy bears and just want to hug them. The dogs seem to know to be
gentle
with small children. I was so proud of the three young dogs we took to
the Christmas parade recently.....they were all absolutely wonderful
with all the children running into the street to hug them. As usual,
they were so much better than I had expected (those rowdy young pups
turned so gentle?). Aren't Pyrs wonderful!
