[PyrNet-L] Pyrnet digest 20000130

Have not as yet heard of the "rehome" businesses yet Lene. Here it's the
Breeders and the Breed Club who take care of the majority of
rehomes/rescues. Yes we have euthanased Rescue/Rehouse Pyrs with
temperament problems over the years rather than pass them on and have
another person bitten. Always tried to ensure that such stock would never be
bred from. My own personal answer now is the neutering/spaying and keeping
contact and again I am not alone here on this one. Most Breeders here also
join the new owners into the Pyr Club here which offers ongoing assistance
and contacts too. It's a matter of ongoing support and education but I
don't feel that the Breed club should have to take 100% responsibility for
others' stupidity but be there as a back up when needed to assist personally
and financially too. In a country this size we do not have the problem of
indiscriminate breeding but no room can be left for complacency if someone
thinks this is the Breed to make a quick buck out of. To hear of puppies
being sold here for $1200 is sheer greed on behalf of the Breeder and an
open invitation for the owner to try and get some of the initial price back
and it will happen.
