Also, I have shaved (well, clipped actually) the belly, underarms, and seat of a couple of heavily coated spayed females, and it really helps here in our hot summers. You can hardly even see that they have been clipped, and they are much more comfortable when they can get their chest & bellies on the cool ground. Holly
