Re: [pyrnet] New subscriber

Ok Bonnie, but you need to remember, there is the old saying " Penny
wise..Pound foolish". I can't speak for everyone, but I know a lot of us
are from modest means, and do not have money to waste. I think that the
consensus here is that Erin stands to loose a whole lot more (
financially as well as emotionally, and physically ) if she takes another
puppy from the pet store. I do like the other suggestions for taking the
money in merchandise
( even though you can usually shop more economically elsewhere ) to make
up for the financial loss. And I certainly would explore every avenue
for getting my money back, in spite of the no refund policy. Pet
stores/puppy mills have gotten a lot of publicity as of late, letting
people know just how bad they both are. I'm not sure how remote one
would have to be not to see papers or T.V. programs to that effect. We
have always lived in the country, and still manage to get needed
information.

As far as being too hard on people, please try to remember that these are
things that come up over and over again, and seen by anyone on the list
for awhile. Plus with the news exposure. It is hard not to react.

Not only do people get hurt in all of this, but those poor animals will
still suffer beyond what any human does, and beyond any financial gain.
Either with a miserable existence, being passed around, or death. More
people need to get angry about this. Sugar coating it also does nothing.

Lastly, even though I am a big believer in environment making a
difference, there are some cases that even a good home can not overcome.
What would be the cost to Erin if the next pup mill/pet shop pup has some
serious personality defects? Her child could be injured seriously,
the breed is harmed in so many ways, when something happens. And of
course, the dog usually is put down.

Sometimes firm information is the best and kindest information that can
be given. The gravity of the whole issue is expressed, the suggestions
given by many, to be considered. As I have said before, if everyone
keeps jumping on everything a list member says, soon enough, people will
cease to answer the questions at all. I don't think anyone should have
hurt feelings about people caring enough to help the new members, and the
future of the breed. I.M.O. Cindy
