Bonnie,

Just to explain why a breeder told you it was unacceptable......The breed
standard from the AKC specifies that Great Pyrenees have tight lips.  Thus
to breed a dog that is true to the accepted standards, you would want to
avoid breeding the loose lip dogs. .....however lovable, wonderful and smart
they may be.

The "physics" of dog drooling is that the loose lips let the slime roll out
of the mouth at the back of the mouth.  In tight lip dogs, the moisture in
the mouth would go down the throat normally, (probably before it becomes
slime.)
