Reminds me of the situation with Kes and her nylon collar. We had hunter
green collars for Baron and Kes. I had also gotten one for a buck (male
goat). Well, the one for the buck soon became too small, and I replaced it
with a different one.

One day, we noticed that Kes' collar seemed a bit tight, and unfortunately it
had no more holes to be let out. So, we tried the buck's old nylon collar,
and found that it fit well. So much so good.

Well, sometime later, I was giving Kes a bath. It wasn't a "show" quality
bath, just one to get most of the yuck out of the coat, and I had left the
nylon collar on her. It wasn't too long before I smelled a strange odor.
Upon investigating, I found that the buck's musky scent was being emitted by
the collar. Also, Kes' neck was turning a funny shade of green/grey.
Needless to say, I didn't use that collar for a Pyr again.
