Re: [pyrnet] Re:Fence/People

Cari, I personally have a 6 ft. wooden fence, but have a 4 ft. wooden
fenced area within this. This enables me to keep at least part of my back
yard nice. I've never had either dog jump the 4 ft. fence, but have had Jordy
figure out both latches on it's gates. I've never tried the invisible fence,
but would think that with having it set inside your chain link fence that the
combination could be effective. As far is the bark collars go, I couldn't
live were I do, and keep my pyrs without them. I purchased mine from petexpo
online PET EXPO for $59 each, and they have been very effective. I had a
neighbor complain, so I decided to try them. They are very humane in that
they active only from a vibration sensor, and then only after 2 seconds on
continues barking, so one bark will not set them off. Once I used them for a
few weeks, I was able! to slowly stop using them for the most part. I've tried
them now with no batteries, and they have the same effect. I did find that
you have to take your time in putting them on, and part the hair under your
pyrs neck so they are closer to the skin, otherwise the thick hair will
insulate them from the shock.  When used properly these do work well as
training aids.   Good luck with what ever you decide on it. Charlie

thanks cindy! i am finding that you are right. it's hard not to take it
personally though, when people criticism me for having the dog because
they are insinuating that i am a bad mother for having him.
as for the fence, we have a regular 4 foot chain link along with the
invisible fence system. the invisible barrier starts about 4 feet in from
the regular fence. i know that the invisible fence alone would never
contain him, but i hope that with the regular fence it will work, since
he won't be able to rush the invisible one and be free.
all of the neighbors hate me, so i really need this to work, as i have
not the funds for a higher fence.
